This is the final installment in this series on "Poor Management" - the number 5 reason why so many people fail in home businesses. Before we continue let's outline our discussions to date. We have covered..

#1. Poor Mind-Set
#2. Chasing The Wrong People

#5. Poor Management

In our earlier post on this topic we discussed some overall business definitions.

We highlighted "New Age" management concepts and outlined some basic marketing principles. We also discussed initiating the "Self Discovery and Self Empowerment" process and having the right mindset.

Just what is management? What makes management poor and what makes it effective? How is it used and why is it important to success in any endeavor? Let's begin our discussion with a workable definition of management.

MG.Ws defines management as the active process of conducting, allocating , controlling, identifying, directing and utilizing one's time, talents, abilities, insights, intuition/instincts, resources (human & material), knowledge and understanding to achieve a desired goal or objective.

Based upon this definition, we can conclude that poor management is failing to conduct, allocate, control, identify, direct and utilize your time, talents, abilities, insights, intuition/instincts, resources (human & material), knowledge and understanding toward achieving a desired goal or objective. Consequently, effective management is the proper application or use of these essential aspects of good management.

The root word for management is manage. Manage comes from the Latin word manus; which means hand. Therefore; to manage literally means to handle. How are you handling your life and/or your business? If you can improve what you are doing, by all means, make improvements. Do this consistently. Next - "The Herd Mentality" - the number 6 reason why so many fail in home businesses.
